Neath Rugby Club Doctor Appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan

Neath Rugby are proud and honored that their club doctor Dr Bryn John has been appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan. His days are now filled to the brim as he continues to practice part time at the Castle Surgery in Neath and will also continue to look after the medical needs of the squad alongside his longtime friend Dr Brendan Sheehan on a matchday at the Gnoll. Dr Bryn John has been an active member of the community all of his working life and he will be a fantastic ambassador for the county as he carried out his hospitality and charitable duties in the local area.

Dr John was selected as High Sherrif for 2009-2010 by the Queen, after being advised by the Lord Chancellor in November 2007 and was inaugurated on 7th April 2009.

Since starting Dr John has already attended 40 functions, including the installation of the Mayors of West Glamorgan, attended the Neath YMCA Good Friday breakfast as his 1st official function, Services for the D Day commemoration, Armed Forces Day together with a dinner in the Inner Temple in London.

As part of his role he has also visited schools and is working closely with the police to introduce a deputy sheriffs scheme for schoolchildren in NPT.
Another remit of his duties is to present High Sheriff Awards to people who have given service to the community within the County of West Glamorgan. With the Lord Lieutenant he will also be involved with the greeting of Royalty when they visit the county.
A forthcoming event in the High Sherrif's calander is a Charity Golf day which will be held in Neath Golf Club with Neath Rugby fans more than welcome to attend.

Deenna Barton, Commerical Manager of Neath Rugby said:
"We are delighted that Dr Bryn John has been appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan, and feel he is fully deserving of the honour.
He has been part of the Neath Rugby family since the 1980's and has treated many famous stars at the Gnoll and continues to be an integral part of our squad on a matchday. His infectous personality and dry sense of humour make him the idea person to carry out this important role to the highest standard. We are confident he is doing a splendid job as high sherrif of West Glamorgan, and be a fantastic representative for the locality, just as he has done for Neath Rugby over the past 20 years. We wish him all the best."
